Did I just create a magic show?

Hey there,

Do you remember how magical things were as a kid? The part where you just showed up and something incredible happened. It's probably one of the coolest things to see the look of wonder and surprise on my kids' faces as they experience something for the very first time.

Let's be honest though, I could probably just call something 'special' and they think it's cool, but I digress...

So we were planning this family vacation, and one that we've desperately needed, and there's so much work that goes into making sure that everything goes right and does well. It's really a lot of work and my hats off to everyone that's put together a trip for multiple people. The amount of work can get right up there with a day job and probably emotionally charged as well.

So there I was, realizing that all the behind-the-scenes work we're doing is just like putting on a magic show and my joy and delight is really in creating a wonderful experience and watching the kids' reactions as they're absolutely enthralled with whatever is going on.

One kid really loves experiencing the magic of a new thing and the other kid wants to rip it apart and figure out how it works. As two different people, the enjoy different things (novel I know!) It makes you think about how to make each one really enjoy a single experience in their own unique way.

So essentially, i'm creating a magic show, but creating a frame of reference so each kid can enjoy the same thing from a different angle.

So here's what I realized about customers, leads, and clients. Not only do they love a good show, but they have a style of experience that they prefer. Most people have heard of some psychology breakdowns such as a Myers Briggs or DISC assessment, but they don't fully encapsulate how a client wants to experience an event or process.

So how do we figure out the best way to help them? By asking questions of course! The best question that I've ever heard and used with amazing success is this:

"That's interesting, tell me more."

It's not even a question really, but showing interest in someone else and actively listening are like the keys to the kingdom for information.

So what's the next magic show?

It's a finance newsletter, and before you gag with boredom, some people love this stuff and if there's one thing I've learned about finance professionals, they have to keep up with the news and markets no matter what they think.

I would love it if you shared this with someone you know in finance, regardless of what type of finance they do.

Here's the thought I want to leave you with today.

If you want to have a magic show experience or help a client have a magic show experience, what would that look like? If you don't know, then you should go find out. And if you do know, then go do it so you create crazy loyal customers!

Here's the latest on the blog if you want to read some more stories or just get ideas.

That's all for this month and as always, let me know if there's anything you'd like to learn or share with everyone.

P.S. If you found this valuable, would you share it with a friend, please?

Have a great month!

Hey Reader, Do you want to write your own sales emails? It seems like it should be easy, but something keeps happening and the email doesn't go out. Maybe you post on LinkedIn instead or browse on the Insta. Part of working with people is that I like to sign up for their emails. Kind of like an unofficial audit. It's been eye opening how many businesses don't send emails at all. Business email case study Out of 200 business email newsletters I signed up for a month ago, only 15% are sending...
