Hey there, Do you remember how magical things were as a kid? The part where you just showed up and something incredible happened. It's probably one of the coolest things to see the look of wonder and surprise on my kids' faces as they experience something for the very first time. Let's be honest though, I could probably just call something 'special' and they think it's cool, but I digress... So we were planning this family vacation, and one that we've desperately needed, and there's so much work that goes into making sure that everything goes right and does well. It's really a lot of work and my hats off to everyone that's put together a trip for multiple people. The amount of work can get right up there with a day job and probably emotionally charged as well. So there I was, realizing that all the behind-the-scenes work we're doing is just like putting on a magic show and my joy and delight is really in creating a wonderful experience and watching the kids' reactions as they're absolutely enthralled with whatever is going on. One kid really loves experiencing the magic of a new thing and the other kid wants to rip it apart and figure out how it works. As two different people, the enjoy different things (novel I know!) It makes you think about how to make each one really enjoy a single experience in their own unique way. So essentially, i'm creating a magic show, but creating a frame of reference so each kid can enjoy the same thing from a different angle. Amazing Books (amazon links so you can read reviews)
So here's what I realized about customers, leads, and clients. Not only do they love a good show, but they have a style of experience that they prefer. Most people have heard of some psychology breakdowns such as a Myers Briggs or DISC assessment, but they don't fully encapsulate how a client wants to experience an event or process. So how do we figure out the best way to help them? By asking questions of course! The best question that I've ever heard and used with amazing success is this: "That's interesting, tell me more." It's not even a question really, but showing interest in someone else and actively listening are like the keys to the kingdom for information. So what's the next magic show? It's a finance newsletter, and before you gag with boredom, some people love this stuff and if there's one thing I've learned about finance professionals, they have to keep up with the news and markets no matter what they think. I would love it if you shared this with someone you know in finance, regardless of what type of finance they do. Here's the link to the newsletter Here's the thought I want to leave you with today. If you want to have a magic show experience or help a client have a magic show experience, what would that look like? If you don't know, then you should go find out. And if you do know, then go do it so you create crazy loyal customers! Here's the latest on the blog if you want to read some more stories or just get ideas.
That's all for this month and as always, let me know if there's anything you'd like to learn or share with everyone. P.S. If you found this valuable, would you share it with a friend, please? Have a great month! Clayton |
How to do sales and marketing, develop systems and workflows that run the business, evaluate choices and making confident decisions, optimize revenue, costs, and every part of the business. This weekly newsletter drops on Friday so you can work on your business, not in it. Here's to lives worth living!
Hey there, Do you ever have those nights that you just can't sleep. There's probably a million things going through your head, or there's something that just keeps nagging your emotions and it's like....surprise, get on up out of here! Well, that's not exactly how it worked out for me. I have this fun little nightly ritual that I've had for decades, probably since I grew up in a desert region with dry air almost all the time. Chapstick, that's right, this one little thing is the hill that I...
Hey there, Scroll to the bottom for my Black Friday deal when you're done reading! I ran a triathlon some years ago and had one of the more humbling experiences of my life right in the middle of it. Probably not what you think since I didn't crash or break any bones. However, I did get an interesting glimpse into one of the most powerful things we endure as humans. To get you up to speed, an Olympic-distance triathlon is a 1-mile swim, a 25-mile bike ride, and a 10-k run (6 miles). I honestly...
